McPHERSON — Though she spent a short time in another state as a child, Kathy Regehr moved back to McPherson County when she was in high school.
There weren’t many reasons to leave after that.
So to say the City of McPherson’s newly-named Human Resources Manager is fond of the city and its surrounding communities might be a bit of an understatement.
Simply put, she loves McPherson and wants to see it thrive.
Beginning her position with the City on March 21, Regehr immediately emphasized the need for a strong municipality, and looks forward to doing her part to continue its growth.
“I’m very proud and excited to be a part of the McPherson community,” Regehr told city commissioners on her first day. “This is my hometown. I’m very proud of McPherson and glad to be a part of the team.”
Regehr brings a wealth of experience in Human Resources to the city’s administration team. Most recently, she spent seven years with Multi Community Diversified Services. She spent the last four years of that as the Human Resources Coordinator, along with working closely with the local chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
“We are excited to bring Kathy on board our City administrative staff,” City Administrator Nick Gregory said. “Her past success in HR and in related administrative fields make her a versatile addition to our team.”
Regehr, whose family lives on and owns farmland in rural McPherson County, is a graduate of Hutchinson Community College and Central Christian College of Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and an Associate’s Degree in General Business.
“Being a McPhersonite and around the community her whole life combined with her strong desire to assist with process improvement in HR made hiring Kathy an attractive answer for the City of McPherson,” Gregory said.
Her immediate focus is to fill several open positions within the City.
“I want McPherson to thrive,” she said. “Making sure we’re staffed the way we need to be.”
