Founded in 1872, the McPherson Police Department today is comprised of 34 sworn officers, and 15 civilian employees including office staff, School Crossing Guards, a VIN Inspector, the Animal Shelter staff and an Animal Control Officer, under the direction of Chief Mikel T. Golden. It serves the City of McPherson with a population just under 14,000 covering an approximately six square mile area.

The McPherson Police Department is soliciting highly motivated individuals for the full time position of Police Officer. Those selected to fill open positions will be enforcing local, state, and federal laws, as well as investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic collisions, and assisting the public. State certified officers are preferred, however basic Academy (KLETC) will be provided to qualified applicants with above average written and verbal skills.
