McPherson - The City of McPherson Parks Department has released the latest plans for a renovated disc golf course redesign and is asking for community feedback.
The new layout will be located in the same general area as the existing course, but will add increased hole-length, professional signage, new tee pads, and will utilize the entire lakeside park area among other changes. The course is being designed by park staff; the original nine-hole course was designed in the 1990’s.
The new 18-hole disc course layout will come with nine new baskets and include a large Info Board showing the course layout, rules and guidelines. All of the new equipment will come with sponsorship opportunities. The proposed Lakeside Park layout will feature 18 concrete tee boxes (donated by McPherson Concrete) with permanent basket placement per hole. Current baskets will be removed. The course will be closed until completed in late spring/early summer.
The newest layout design isn’t final, as the department is still seeking input from local players. Park staff has marked tee and basket locations, so that players can walk the course and get a feel for the changes. Input from the disc golf community is encouraged. Park staff will be available at Lakeside Park maintenance garage (behind water park) on Wednesday, January 20 and 27 at 5:00pm and Sunday, January 31 at 1:00pm to discuss the layout with the disc golf community.
