The Kansas Department of Transportation will temporarily close I-135 on Friday, Oct. 23, from mile marker 58-60 for bridge replacement. The bridge is located approximately one-half mile south of the U.S. 56 exit. (See attached map.)
Northbound and southbound I-135 will close at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Southbound I-135 will reopen at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, and northbound I-135 will reopen by 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, weather permitting. Traffic will follow the signed detour through McPherson via U.S. 56, Main Street and K-61. No oversized loads will be allowed on the detour.
Dondlinger and Sons Construction Co. Inc. of Wichita is the primary contractor for this $2.3 million project. The contractor has scheduled the bridge replacement to be completed in January 2021, weather permitting.
