ORDINANCE NO. 3334
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MCPHERSON, KANSAS AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE II SECTION 32 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MCPHERSON, KANSAS REGARDING THE FREQUENCY OF COMMISSION MEETINGS AND THE AUTHORITY TO PAY LIABILITIES IN WEEKS WHEN THE GOVERNING BODY DOES NOT MEET.
WHEREAS, Charter Ordinance No. 44 was passed by the governing body on February 3, 2020, and became effective on April 13, 2020.
WHEREAS, City Code needs to be amended to align with Charter Ordinance 44.
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City believes it is in the best interest of the City to amend the City Code to provide for a change in the frequency of commission meetings and the authority to pay liabilities in weeks when the governing body does not meet.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MCPHERSON, KANSAS:
Section 1. Amendment of Code section 2-32. From and after the effective date of this Ordinance, existing Code Section 2-32 is hereby deleted in its entirety and in its place, the following is inserted:
Sec. 2-32. - Meetings.
At such times and on such days as announced, the governing body shall have regular meetings in the commission meeting room of the municipal center, 400 East Kansas Avenue, or at such other place as determined by the governing body, once every week; except, the governing body may elect at a prior public meeting to skip up to four ( 4) regular meetings per calendar year as long as no two consecutive meetings are skipped. Special meetings may be called and held as provided by law.
Section 2. Repeal. All or parts of the Code conflicting with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Publication and Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, signature, and publication of a summary of this ordinance in the official city newspaper and posting of the full text of the ordinance on the city’s website in compliance with KS.A. 12-3007(b).
