McPHERSON — An improvement project is underway at the intersection of the U.S. Highway 81 Bypass and Kansas Avenue (U.S. Highway 56). The project, which is being managed by the Kansas Department of Transportation, is a result of McPherson receiving funds from the City Connecting Link Improvement Program.
The project falls in the “geometric improvement” category under the program’s guidelines. More about the CCLIP can be found here.
During construction, which is tentatively slated to last until mid-November, east and westbound traffic on Highway 56 will be condensed and run through. However, north and southbound traffic will be detoured, with routes determined by project stages. Motorists should watch closely for detour signs or make alternative route plans ahead of time.
