Trout Stocking
McPherson - The City of McPherson Park Department will welcome our fall stocking of trout, with the season starting on November 1st. McPherson will do a fall stocking of trout at Hess Park ponds on November 3rd.
The fall community trout stocking is a great place to take kids to catch their first fish. A small hook with a nightcrawler or corn under a small bobber or small simple spinners such as a panther martin or mepps is all you need to get in on the fun.
A trout permit is required to fish for and possess trout from January 1 thru December 31. Anglers need a valid Kansas fishing license and pay the Kansas State trout stamp fee to fish for or possess trout. The daily limit is five trout per licensed angler.
Children age 15 or younger can harvest two trout per day without a permit, per Kansas Wildlife and Park regulations. The adult limit is (5) must limit their catch to one daily limit. The child can purchase a trout stamp fee which will allow them to catch their own limit.
