McPHERSON — Staff with the Kansas Forest Service will be in town several times for approximately the next month providing a tree inventory across the City of McPherson.
The organization periodically goes through communities across the state to collect detailed information about the tree population — noting species, size, age, and other useful details. This information is shared with municipalities and can be vital in supporting the City’s Tree Master Plan.
Today, the forest service is focused on the City’s park system, but also will spend time looking at street trees. Southeast Kansas District Forester Kody Kraemer said while they could be in neighborhoods, staff will not be entering private property and will focus on trees near the street.
Residents may see white vehicles from time to time with government tags as they work on the inventory.
