MCPHERSON — During this budget year, the City of McPherson Commission agreed to triple the City’s mill and overlay efforts, raising the former $200,000 limit to a $600,000 commitment .
A couple of these projects are upcoming.
The first will require one of McPherson’s streets to be closed for approximately a month. South Maxwell Street from Avenue A to the city limits on the south edge will be closed beginning Monday, May 15. Mill and overlay projects are set to begin in early June. However, that stretch of Maxwell was in poor enough condition to completely replace.
McPherson County will BOMAG (till) the existing road. The City of McPherson Street Department will then haul away the existing asphalt and construct a new crushed concrete base to be overlayed by Kansas Paving.
Another project on North High Drive will begin in June with a two-inch mill and overlay.
The City of McPherson apologizes for any inconvenience as these necessary repairs are made. Questions can be directed to the City of McPherson Public Works Department at 620-245-2545 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
