Navigating the world of work and career can be daunting and isolating. Networking groups can be an efficient way to meet valuable contacts, develop skills, and discuss ideas and issues. On Wednesday, August 1, 6-7:30 p.m., the first meeting of the Career Connect group is scheduled at the McPherson Public Library. Career Connect is a professional development group which brings together women of all ages and stages in their careers to inspire positive professional growth. Topics relevant to all women in the workforce will be explored, including leadership, work-life integration, effective communication, and conflict resolution. Participants can expect to grow skills that will enable them to thrive in the ever-changing world of work. The group will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of each month, and participants are encouraged to attend regularly.“The library has so many valuable resources for enhancing career skills, so a group like this feels like a natural step,” said Shannon Brake, the library's marketing and communications manager. “There are multiple benefits to having a support-based group where women can share achievements, goals, strategies and ideas, and essentially learn from each other.” Each session will provide skills that will directly enhance their success on the job.
