North Front Street recently reopened after being closed for street improvements. According to City Commissioner Larry Wiens original plans focused on street patching, but the project resulted in a complete reconstruction totaling $255,000. “The street condition was poor and we determined rebuilding would be more cost effective,” he said. The City has begun similar street improvements along South Front Street, which is a priority project based on public feedback. Estimated project cost is $205,000 and will be funded by a half-cent sales tax instituted by public vote. Reconstruction will be completed by early fall.
