Hess Park Playground

Hess Park Playground

Description: Located at the southwest corner of Canterbury and Northview Hess Park is a 7 acre park situated in the northwest part of the city bordered by old highway 81 on the west. Close proximity to the Meadowlark trail Trailhead. The new playground will be installed just north of the existing shelter. The playground project is funded by the 2015 general fund budget and donations from the community.

Project Scope: The objective of the project is to provide a clean, safe and accessible playground for pre-school and school age children, and the project scope will include a community build installation of new equipment, sidewalks in the future to increase accessibility.

Please share our exciting news! We ask you to contribute to the Hess Park Playground and sidewalk project. Our goal is to install the new playground March 26, 2016 with a community build. The city also has goals of adding additional seating, expanding the picnic area; develop a walking trail around the park, use waterways for recreational opportunities, plant trees.
We have purchased the playground with general fund money and about $13,000 in donations and In-kind services. Without your generous support, we cannot move forward with construction of sidewalks and other park improvements. Please join in enriching the lives of hundreds of neighborhood families and securing the future of Hess Park as a neighborhood treasure for generations to come.

How to Donate: Tax deductable donations of any size are gratefully accepted! Please make your check payable to: City of McPherson Hess Park Donation Fund, 400 East Kansas, McPherson, KS 67460
